  • Bunnings Warehouse has responded to a trend that's taken off

  • Shoppers have been buying an $11 PVC pipe to store Frank Green bottles in cars

  • The unlikely product fits perfectly into an existing cup holder

  • Now the hardware store has updated the product name in stores

Bunnings Warehouse has responded to a 'genius' life hack involving an $11 PVC pipe.

In late December a shopper bought the tapered pipe piece to use inside her car to store a 1L Frank Green drink bottle and shared the tip on TikTok now seen by more than three million people.

The unlikely Bunnings product fits perfectly into the small holder and thousands have bought the product themselves.

Now the hardware store has been praised for 'understanding the assignment' after a customer noticed the product name in store had changed to 'cup holder' (pictured: 100 x 65mm PVC DWV Taper Level Inverts sign)

The video published last Thursday shows the $11.05 pipe parts on display down the plumbing aisle.

The product name was likely changed so customers know the correct pipe to buy rather than ask the staff.

According to The Courier Mail, the fittings have sold out at the Bunnings Newstead and Virginia stores.

'Well played Bunnings,' one person wrote, another dubbed it a 'great marketing strategy'.

'They got sick of being asked which ones fit the Frank Green bottles,' a third wrote.

Another fan wrote: 'I may have literally just bought one because my cup holders are too shallow and any drink in them fall out at every turn.'

Due to the sudden popularity of the product, others claimed the price had 'tripled'.

'The way they raised the price as well,' one person wrote.

Another claimed the priced increased from $3 to $11, but some didn't seem to mind.

The user who shared the hack has also been dubbed a 'hero' and 'innovation queen' by many online.

'This is the best TikTok hack I have ever come across,' one person commented.

Another said: 'Not all hero's wear capes. Off to Bunnings I go now.'
