The world's largest container ship MSC IRINA, which was independently developed by China, made its maiden voyage to Xiamen Port. This is a new historical record of very large ships attached to Xiamen Port. 

The Mediterranean Irina was recently launched and officially set off on its maiden voyage in late March. With a total length of 399.99 meters, a width of 61.3 meters and a deadweight of 224,900 tons, its maximum loading capacity is 24,346 TEus, and its maximum stacking capacity is equivalent to 22-story high container containers. It is worthy of the "jumbo" and "king of carrying cargo" at sea. It is understood that the "Mediterranean Irina" rotation is the Mediterranean route, after the port of Xiamen, there will be more than 3100 foreign trade containers on board. After the completion of the operation, the ship will carry clothing, shoes and hats, digital products, seafood, hardware products, plastic products and other daily necessities to the port of Singapore, Egypt's port of Suez, Egypt's Port of Said East, Italy's port of Genoa, Italy's Port of Gera and other important ports along the Belt and Road.

Xiamen Port is one of the few natural deep water ports in the world, which can meet the requirements of 200,000-ton ships entering and leaving the port all weather. It is the "punch time" resort for global giant ships.

It is worth mentioning that Songyu Container Terminal has received 23 400-meter-class container ships in a row this year. This time, "Mediterranean Irina" once again broke the new record of the terminal's traffic capacity and berthing capacity.
